PANACEA VIZSLAS
What's New
2010--Where did the Year go?

A lot of exciting things happened during 2010, but not much got updated on my website....I was busy finishing my Doctor of Pharmacy degree through the University of Florida, and I am so happy to be finished with that degree!  Here is a quick run down of events from this past year.

February--Colby sired a litter of 6 (5 boys and 1 girl) born on February 19th.  They were themed after the Olympics since they were born right in the middle of the Winter Olympics.

April--We brought one of those baby puppies home and named him "Booker" or Kizmar Panacea BookN Down Whistler.  He has been a wonderful addition to our pack, even though he is one of the naughtiest puppies I have ever had!

May--I finished two Vizslas this month--one was a Colby son (Rowan or CH Jakra's Poised for Mischief) and a dog for my friend Lois (Sam or CH Kizmar Gentleman Dash on Ice JH).  Thank you to both Jesi and Lois for allowing me to play with these two great boys!  Glory earned a major towards her Grand Champion title from the Veteran class.

August--It was Booker's Debut and what a debut he made in the show ring.  In his very first day in the show ring, he was Best in Puppy Sweepstakes and then later that day went on to win Winners Dog/Best of Winners for a 5 point major.  That same day, Colby was awarded Best Stud Dog and Glory was awarded Best Opposite in Veteran Sweepstakes.  Later that weekend, Cagney and Glory both earned Grand Champion Majors, and Booker earned another 4 point major!

September--The VCA held their 50th Anniversary National Events in Oconomowac, WI.  Because Jeff was elk hunting, I had to bring all the dogs with me.  At the last minute, I decided to enter Glory as a special.  She showed beautifullly.....and was awarded BEST OF BREED at the 2010 VCA National Events.  Words cannot even begin to describe my feelings!  I was so incredibly proud and honored to be on the end of the lead with Glory as an owner/handler!  Booker showed well also, placing 3rd in his sweepstakes class and then placing 1st in the 6-9 month puppy class!

The same weekend that Glory won the National, her daughter Chili Pepper finished her MACH!!  What a way to end a fabulous weekend!  I am so proud of Dale and Katherine and everything they have accomplished with Chili!!

November--I decided to finish Glory's Grand Champion title....and entered her in the show at Shakopee.  She won Best of Breed both days and then went on to place 3rd and 4th in the sporting group each day.  That same weekend, Glory also received the invitation to attend Westminster, where only the top 5 in each breed are invited.

December--I FINALLY graduated!  I graduated Summa Cum Laude and was also awarded the "Outstanding Graduate" award, which is the highest award given by the College of Pharmacy.  To celebrate, we went on a family vacation to DisneyWorld and had a wonderful time!

January 2010

January 8-- For the last few weeks, we have been fostering a rescue named Hannah.  She was a puppy mill mama and we believe she was bred every time she came into season.  When we got her, we saw only a shell of a vizsla.  She was absolutely scared of everything and everyone!  However, she quickly attached herself to me, and little by little we started to see her come out of her shell.  We were contacted by a wonderful family who was willing to take on an older girl and give Hannah the forever home she deserved.  I dropped Hannah off at her new home tonight, and it was bittersweet....but I know she will be in great hands with Stephanie, Stephen, Jonah, and Max!  Please consider helping rescue vizslas---either by donations, fostering, transportation, and only purchasing vizslas from reputable breeders!

January 9--We traveled to the Land O Lake shows and I showed Rowan for the last time in the puppy class. On Saturday, he was awarded Winners Dog for a  4pt major!  I was very pleased with how he did--he now has 11 pts and both his majors and will turn 1yr old on Jan 13th!  Way to go Rowan!  This was also a great day, as Rowan's dam Moxie finished her CH today too!  Congratulations to Moxie and Debbie Pedersen of Jakra Vizslas!

January 21-- "Big Jet" found his forever home with a family in Indianapolis.
Rowan winning his 2nd major at just under 1 yr of age.
